“I'm delighted that by passing this motion councillors from all parties on Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council have recognised the importance of our local football clubs to our borough.”

Garry Bridge, Lib Dem Councillor for Vauxhall

LATE last night Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council became the sixth council to formerly endorse Fair Game. At a packed meeting, the council passed a motion supporting Fair Game’s manifesto and calling on other councils to follow suit.

The motion was proposed by the Liberal Democrat councillor for Vauxhall Garry Bridge, and supported by the Conservative Group leader and representatives of the Green Party and the Independent group.

Cllr Garry Bridge said: “I'm delighted that by passing this motion councillors from all parties on Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council have recognised the importance of our local football clubs to our borough.

“The proposals set out in Tracy Crouch's review of football should be implemented as soon as possible."

Niall Couper, CEO of Fair Game, added: “There is a real sense of momentum growing now. And it was great to see such cross-party support. We hope that other councils do listen to the call from Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and join us in our pursuit to change football for the better.”

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council is the sixth council to endorse Fair Game, following on from Cumbria County Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Newcastle City Council, Oldham Council and Kendal Town Council.

Fair Game has put together a simple step-by-step guide on how to approach your own councillors and help make your own council a Fair Game Council.
